This World Goes Round And Round
This World Goes Round - Tom Paxton

G                     C   G
This world goes round and round.
                       D7 G
Green leaves will turn to brown.
D7
What goes up must come down.
C                    G
It all comes back to you.

And you find whatever you feel.

You lose whatever you steal.
D7
Just like a spinning wheel,
C                        G
the world goes round and round.

(Guitar solo)
G
People knocking on the golden door.
D7
They got plenty but they all want more.
C
They don't know what they're looking for.
G                  D7        G
And the world goes round and round.

(Repeat first verse.)

We keep fightin' but we just can't win.

Looks like we're going to do it again.

That's just where I came in,

And the world goes round and round.

(Repeat first verse.)

Rain water runs down to sea.

Evaporation

Playing tricks on me

and Bill, and Joe and Tommy
well, they went a little far
They were sitting in the front yard
blowing on the siren
of somebody's police car.

So you see , your Honour
it was all in fun
That little bitty track meet down on main
street
was just to see if the cops could run
Well they run us down to see you
in an alcoholic haze
Sure could use those thirty days
to recover from the party

Well they run us down to see you

Marvelous Toy - Tom Paxton
=============

    D            A7               D                      G
When I was just a wee little lad Full of health and joy
   G               D                  E            A7
My father homeward came one night And gave to me a toy
     D        A7                 D            G
A wonder to behold it was with many colors bright
        G             D                E7               A7
And the moment I laid eyes on it.

Marvelous Toy - Tom Paxton
=============

    D            A7               D                      G
When I was just a wee little lad Full of health and joy
   G               D                  E            A7
My father homeward came one night And gave to me a toy
     D        A7                 D            G
A wonder to behold it was with many colors bright
        G             D                E7               A7
And the moment I laid eyes on it. It became my hearts delight

Chorus:
        D           A7                        D                   G
It went zip when it moved, bop when it stopped and whir when it stood still
   G              D                 A7            D
I never knew just what it was and I guess I never will

The first time that I picked it up I got a big surprise
For right on the bottom were two big buttons that looked like big green
eyes.
I first pushed one, then the other, then I twisted its lid
And when I put it down again, here is what it did.

    Chorus

It first marched left, then marched right, then marched under a chair.
And when I looked where it had gone, it wasn't even there
I started to cry, but my daddy laughed for he knew that I would find
When I looked around, my marvellous toy, just a'chugging from behind.

    Chorus

Well, the years have gone by too swiftly it seems, I now have my own
  little boy
And yesterday, I gave to him my marvelous little toy.
His eyes nearly popped right out of his head, he gave a squeal of glee
Neither one of us knows just what it is, but he loves it just like me

    Chorus

I've been doing this song for MANY years and (if I remember correctly
without my guitar in hand) generally play it in C but the chord progression
is simple enough to allow it to be played in whatever key fits your vocal
range.

Regards,

Wondering about Big Daddy

Way back yonder in November
   Am             E7          Am
When he said I'd never have to go

   [Chorus]
          F              C

{title:Going to the Zoo}
{st:Tom Paxton}
[D]Daddy's taking us to the zoo tomorrow,
Z[A7]oo tomorrow, zoo tomorrow;
D[D]addy's taking us to the zoo tomorrow,
And [A7]we can stay all d[D]ay.

{c:Chorus:}
     W[D]e're going to the z[G]oo, zoo, zoo;
     How about y[D]ou, you, you?
     You can come [A7]too, too, too;
     We're going to the z[D]oo, [A7]zoo, z[D]oo.

See the elephnat with the long trunk swingin'
Great big ears and a long trunk swingin'
Snuffin' up peanuts with the long trunk swingin'
And we can stay all day.

     {c:Chorus.}

See all the monkeys, they're a scritch-scritch-scratchin'
Jumping around and scritch-scritch-scratchin'
Hangin' by their long tails (scritch-scritch-scratchin')
And we can stay all day.

     {c:Chorus.}

There's a big black bear, he's a huff-huff-puffin'
Coat's too heavy, he's a-huff-huff-puffin'
Don't get too near the huff-huff-puffin'
Or You won't stay all day.

     {c:Chorus.}

Well the seals in the pool all honk honk honkin'
Catchin' the fish and honk honk honkin'
Little tiny seals all (high pitched) honk honk honkin'
And we can stay all day.

     {c:Chorus.}

(slower) Well we stayed all day and I'm gettin' sleepy,
Sittin' in the car gettin' sleep sleep sleepy,
Home already and I'm sleep sleep sleepy,
And we have stayed all day.

     We've been to the zoo, zoo, zoo;
     How about you, you, you?
     You came too, too, too;
     We're been to the zoo, zoo, zoo.

Mommy's taking us to the zoo tomorrow,
Zoo tomorrow, zoo tomorrow;
Mommy's taking us to the zoo tomorrow,
And we can stay all day.

     {c:Chorus.}
